Product Description
Mounted One Way Disc Plough for 18-160HP Tractors

The BSM 1LYQ Series Mounted One Way Disc Plough is designed for primary tillage, soil cutting and soil turning with agricultural tractors from approximately 18HP to 160HP. The series includes configurations with 2 to 6 concave disc blades, allowing customers to select a suitable model according to tractor power, soil condition and required working width.

Unlike a disc harrow that mainly breaks and mixes the upper soil layer, a disc plough cuts deeper into the ground and turns the soil to one side. It is suitable for dry, hard, sticky, stony or residue-covered farmland where a conventional mouldboard plough may experience high resistance or soil adhesion.

The mounted three-point linkage provides a compact structure, convenient transport and simple connection to common agricultural tractors. BSM can recommend a suitable disc quantity and working width according to the tractor horsepower, tractor weight, hydraulic lifting capacity and local field conditions.

Main Applications
  • Primary tillage before planting
  • Turning dry and hard topsoil
  • Ploughing sticky or heavy soil
  • Opening previously uncultivated farmland
  • Cutting crop roots and surface residue
  • Incorporating weeds and organic material into the soil
  • Preparing maize, wheat, soybean, cotton and grain fields
  • Land preparation on small, medium and large farms
How Does a One Way Disc Plough Work?

The concave disc blades rotate while moving through the field. Each disc cuts into the soil, lifts the soil slice and turns it toward one side. The rotating disc structure reduces sliding resistance and helps the implement pass through residue, roots and sticky soil.

Because the discs rotate during operation, soil is less likely to remain attached to the working parts compared with some fixed plough structures. This makes a disc plough useful in fields with difficult soil or abundant crop residue.

Technical Note: The 1LYQ Series, 2-6 disc configurations and overall tractor power range are based on the BSM farm implement product planning information. Working width, working depth, disc diameter and machine weight shown above are estimated according to common agricultural configurations.

Final disc quantity, dimensions, machine weight and matched tractor power are subject to BSM technical confirmation before quotation, production and contract signing.

How to Choose the Correct Disc Plough

Tractor horsepower is an important reference, but the disc plough should not be selected only according to engine power. Tractor weight, hydraulic lifting capacity, three-point hitch category and soil resistance must also be considered.

Please provide the following information:

  • Tractor brand and model
  • Tractor horsepower
  • 2WD or 4WD configuration
  • Tractor operating weight
  • Three-point hitch category
  • Hydraulic lifting capacity
  • Soil type and soil moisture
  • Amount of crop residue
  • Required working depth
  • Required working width
  • Farm area and daily workload

Four-wheel drive tractors are generally recommended for hard soil, deep ploughing, sloping farmland and larger disc configurations.

Recommended Configuration by Tractor Power
  • 18-35HP tractors: consider a compact 2-disc configuration for small farms, orchards and light or medium soil.
  • 30-55HP tractors: consider a 3-disc configuration after confirming the hydraulic lifting capacity and soil resistance.
  • 50-90HP tractors: consider a 4-disc configuration for medium farm primary tillage.
  • 80-120HP tractors: consider a 5-disc configuration for wider coverage and harder soil.
  • 100-160HP tractors: consider a reinforced 6-disc configuration for large farms and demanding field preparation.
Disc Plough vs Disc Harrow
Comparison One Way Disc Plough Disc Harrow
Main Function Primary tillage and soil turning Secondary tillage and soil breaking
Working Depth Generally deeper Generally shallower
Soil Movement Turns soil toward one side Cuts and mixes the upper soil layer
Best Application Hard soil, new farmland and primary ploughing Seedbed preparation and residue mixing
Field Finish Produces turned soil ridges Produces a more broken and mixed surface
Disc Plough vs Mouldboard Plough

A disc plough uses rotating concave discs, while a mouldboard plough uses fixed plough bodies. The rotating discs are suitable for sticky soil, roots, stones and heavy residue because they can roll over or cut through some obstacles.

A mouldboard plough can provide strong soil inversion and a clean furrow in suitable soil. The best choice depends on soil texture, moisture, residue level, tractor power and the required ploughing result.
